Kyoto City will hold the 65th Citizen’s Grand Tea Ceremony at Nijo-jo Castle that celebrates its 25th anniversary of registration on the list of World Heritage Sites this year.
You can enjoy tea ceremonies demonstrated by three schools of Japanese tea ceremony.
Please visit the castle and have a bowl of tea.
October 27 (Sun.) – Urasenke Style Tea Ceremony
November 1 (Fri.) – Omotesenke Style Tea Ceremony
November 3 (Sun./ Public Holiday) – Yabunouchike Style Tea Ceremony
From 9:30am to 3:00pm (rain or shine)
*Please register at the Seiryu-en Garden by 2:30pm.
Waraku-an Teahouse and Koun-tei Teahouse in the Seiryu-en Garden
2,600 JPY (tax included) per person a day, including fees for two bowls of tea, a bowl of soba
noodles and admission fee to the garden.
*On the event days, only those who have a ticket for the Citizen’s Grand Tea Ceremony
can enter the Seiryu-en Garden.
*The ticket also allows you to see the Ninomaru Garden. If you plan to see the
Ninomaru-goten Palace, additional 410 JPY is required.
- Where to get tickets
〇Advance ticket …70 tickets for each day will be on sale from Tuesday, October 1 at
the Nijo-jo Castle Ticket Office.
〇Day ticket… 30 tickets will be sold on the day of each ceremony at the Nijo-jo Castle
*Tickets for the Citizen’s Grand Tea Ceremony are not refundable.
